Prairie Village ? Lawrence High’s volleyball team went 1-2 Thursday at the Shawnee Mission East quadrangular.

The Lions defeated SM South, 25-22, 25-14; lost to Olathe East, 18-25, 25-22, 16-25 and lost to Shawnee Heights, 23-25, 25-23, 18-25.

Rachel VanHorn had 35 assists, while Lindsey Murray had 26 digs, Emily Bracciano 25 digs, Kate Melton 20 digs and Maddy Orth 19 digs.

Taylor Tolefree totaled 14 kills, while Murray had eight for the Lions (8-14).

“They are playing 10 times better than the beginning of the season. It’s what you hope for,” coach Stephanie Magnuson said. “It doesn’t matter at the beginning as long as you peak at the end which is what we’re beginning to do. We’ve made a lot of strides since the beginning of the year.”

LHS will travel to Topeka Washburn Rural on Tuesday.
