Law enforcement report

¢ A 28-year-old Lawrence man was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital on Sunday after being involved in a pedestrian/auto accident. The incident occurred about 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of Mississippi Street. According to an accident report, Derrick Betts, 24, of Linwood, told police he was driving south on Mississippi when he saw two men apparently fighting. Betts reported that he slowed his vehicle as he neared the men, but one man, Shawn Tsosie, 28, moved off the curb and into the roadway and was struck, the report said. Betts reported to police that he believed he was driving less than 10 mph at the time of the collision, the report said. Emergency responders took Tsosie to the hospital but witnessed no external injuries, the report said. Tsosie was listed in fair condition at the hospital Tuesday, a nurse supervisor said. There were no other injuries.
