Law enforcement report

Lawrence police are investigating a possible kidnapping after a woman told them she was held against her will and beaten during the weekend.

The 22-year-old woman called police Sunday morning after she escaped from an apartment in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane. She said she had been held by a 27-year-old Lawrence man who threatened her with a gun, and a 32-year-old woman who beat her with a kitchen utensil, police said.

The incident started at 7 p.m. Saturday and the woman managed to escape at 10 a.m. Sunday. Police obtained a search warrant for the apartment where the woman was held but didn’t find the suspects, according to a police news release issued Monday morning.

An investigation is continuing.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 27-year-old Lawrence woman reported to Lawrence police Saturday that someone took $1,400 from her apartment in the 2500 block of Redbud Lane. The theft occurred during the early morning hours of Saturday.

¢ Someone broke into a 1999 Dodge on Saturday night or Sunday morning while it was parked in the 700 block of New Hampshire, a Kansas City, Mo., woman told Lawrence police. The car sustained $1,000 in damage and a cell phone valued at $500 was taken.

¢ Someone broke into an apartment in the 1000 block of Missouri Street on Friday night or Saturday morning and took $1,150 in cash and coins. A 22-year-old Lawrence man reported the burglary and theft to police on Saturday.

¢ A 40-inch television and several electronic items, including video game systems and DVD movies, were taken during the early morning hours Thursday in the 2200 block of Breckenridge Drive. A 24-year-old Lawrence man reported the theft to police the same day. Losses were listed at nearly $4,000.

¢ A 22-year-old Lawrence man reported to Lawrence police a burglary and theft at his apartment in the 1000 block of Missouri Street. It occurred Friday night. Taken were 15 Xbox video games, 20 DVDs and three Xbox controllers. Losses were listed at more than $1,200.

¢ Lawrence police are investigating the theft of 30 bottles of cologne from Abercrombie & Fitch, 647 Mass. A store employee reported the thefts Friday but said they occurred in August. Losses were listed at $1,035.
