County commissioner named to state board

? Douglas County Commissioner Charles Jones has been appointed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to a new board aimed at making information about state government spending more available to the public.

The Public Finance Transparency Board, enacted by the Legislature this year, will oversee the startup of a central computer system and searchable Web site for state agency expenditures and revenues, bonded indebtedness and other budgetary information.

Jones, a Lawrence resident is director of the Kansas University Public Management Center.

Others appointed to the board include Doug Anstaett of Topeka, executive director of the Kansas Press Association; and Joan Wagnon of Topeka, who is secretary of the Kansas Department of Revenue.
