Study abroad director fills in at new post

Kansas University’s study abroad director has been appointed to temporarily fill a job created earlier this year when KU changed its administrative structure.

Susan Gronbeck-Tedesco, director of the KU Office of Study Abroad, will serve in coming months as interim associate vice provost for international programs, KU announced Monday. A search will begin in the fall for someone to fill the job on a permanent basis.

Last month, KU Provost Richard Lariviere announced that the dean of the graduate school would no longer oversee international programs and would report directly to the vice provost for research. That created the new position that will be filled by Gronbeck-Tedesco, who has been at KU since 1980 and has been director of study abroad the past six years.

Nancy Chaison and Angela Dittrich will serve as interim co-directors of the Office of Study Abroad.
