Three arrested on suspicion of robbery

Three men were arrested by Lawrence police Monday evening for an attack on a man who was found lying on a sidewalk in the 900 block of New Hampshire Street.

The victim, an 18-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man, said he was beaten by three men in a nearby alley, according to a police report. The victim’s wallet and other personal belongings were taken. He was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by ambulance. He was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police found three men in the vicinity of the crime, questioned and then arrested them. They were taken to the Douglas County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. Two of the men had no addresses and the third had a Lawrence address, according to reports.

Police also found some of the stolen property, including a cell phone, a pair of black shoes and $20 in cash. The victim was still missing a $312 bus ticket.
