Co-author to substitute for Katrina-book talk
A Wall Street Journal reporter who co-authored a notable book on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina will speak tonight on the Kansas University campus.
Chris Cooper, co-author of “Disaster: Hurricane Katrina and the Failure of Homeland Security,” will speak at 7:30 p.m. at the Dole Institute of Politics on West Campus.
Cooper is sitting in for his co-author, Wall Street Journal reporter Bobby Block, who originally was scheduled to appear.
A review in the Washington Post called the duo’s book a “searing indictment of a post-9/11 federal government more intent on dealing with hypothetical dangers than real ones.”
Cooper is a White House correspondent for the Wall Street Journal and is a former political reporter for the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
The program is free and open to the public. A book signing will follow.
