County OKs plan for CLO group home

The final plat for Midnight Farm, a facility for people with developmental disabilities, was approved Monday by Douglas County commissioners.

Midnight Farm, owned by Community Living Opportunities, is on the northwest corner of East 2100 and North 600 roads, about five miles northeast of Baldwin City.

Last year, commissioners approved a conditional-use permit for the site, despite objections from several neighbors.

CLO plans to have walking trails, livestock and a swimming pool for its clients.

Commissioners Jere McElhaney and Charles Jones also voted to allow Douglas County public works to solicit bids for:

¢ Pavement striping and markings. County engineer Keith Browning estimates it will take all of the $124,800 budgeted for the work.

¢ Asphaltic concrete material. The department has budgeted $400,000 for it.

Commissioner Bob Johnson was absent because of a death in the family.
