KU announces upcoming arts speakers

There are three Hallmark Symposium lectures remaining for spring 2007, with some changes to the schedule due to speaker cancellations. The following events are planned:

March 26: Joe Wood is the area program coordinator in metals at the Fine Arts Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. His awards and fellowships include the Society of Arts and Crafts Biennial Fellowship Award in 1994 and the Juror’s Award for United States Metals in San Francisco in 1989. Wood has exhibited in several cities, including Cambridge, Chicago, Cleveland, Seattle and Providence, and has been an active member in the Society of North American Goldsmiths since 1977.

April 9: Michael Hogue began his career as an artist for a small greeting card company. He then moved on to pursue freelance illustration, working for clients such as The Wall Street Journal, Playboy, American Airlines, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune and more. His work has won more than 20 international awards, including The Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts Illustration Annual, Print Magazine, the Society of News Design and the Dallas Press Club award.

April 23: Leonard Konopelski’s works can be found in many private collections in Kyoto, Japan; Copenhagen, Denmark; London; Berlin; New York, San Francisco and elsewhere. Between 1973 and 1975 he was the set and costume designer for the Polish theater production of Dostojewski’s “The Idiot,” as well as Polish films “Melex” and “Career of Krak,” a 20-week television series in Warsaw.
