Hearing set for suspect in student’s death

? A man suspected of stalking and killing a member of a college dance team faces a preliminary hearing in late May.

Cowley County District Judge Jim Pringle scheduled the hearing Tuesday for Justin Thurber, who is charged with capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy.

Thurber is accused of abducting and killing 19-year-old Jodi Sanderholm, of Arkansas City.

Sanderholm disappeared Jan. 5. Her car was found in a lake Jan. 9, and her body was discovered about eight miles away.

Thurber, of Arkansas City, is being held on $1 million bond. He did not attend Tuesday’s scheduling session in court.

The preliminary hearing is to start May 30 and could take three days.
