Law enforcement report

¢ A 33-year-old man, who listed the Lawrence Community Shelter as his home address, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for threatening to throw a rock at a 95-year-old Lawrence man.

Sgt. Damon Thomas, a Lawrence police spokesman, said witnesses believe the suspect was intoxicated when he began threatening the 95-year-old man near the area of Ninth and Massachusetts streets. Then the suspect fell into the elderly man, and they both hit the ground.

The elderly man suffered scrapes to his knees, but he declined medical attention, Thomas said. The suspect was booked into jail on charges of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property.

¢ Douglas County sheriff’s officers were investigating two wrecks Tuesday night on U.S. Highway 24-40 near the Lawrence Municipal Airport.

No one involved was believed to have suffered serious injuries, medics told emergency dispatchers. Officers were investigating the possibility that one person caused a second wreck after 10:30 p.m. along the highway after leaving the scene of a wreck minutes earlier.

¢ Lawrence police are investigating three reported thefts from the business G-Force Athletics, 801 E. 23rd St. The incidents were reported to police Thursday.

The first is a reported theft of $700 from the business in February or March. The second is a report of stolen property valued at $450 from the business May 17, and the third is the theft of an $800 spotting rig owned by the Kansas University Cheer Squad believed to have been taken June 2 from the business.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ 2600 block of Compton Square: Between midnight and 7 a.m. Friday, someone caused $1,250 damage to a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck and took property inside valued at $777.

¢ 3700 block of Clinton Parkway: Between 11 a.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Saturday, someone stole a green 1995 Acura valued at $3,000. The owner said he left the vehicle parked on the east side of the building while attending the Wakarusa Music & Camping Festival at Clinton State Park.
