Longer fireworks sales expected to be OK’d

Douglas County commissioners today are expected to approve a resolution extending the sale of fireworks from three to four days.

In April, the Douglas County Fireworks Association asked for the extra day for sales and presented information showing that other counties and cities in the area had longer sales periods. Commissioners voiced their support, and a resolution setting sales from July 1 through July 4 has been prepared.

Commissioners also will discuss a request for a conditional use permit for a mini-storage facility presented by Windover Community of Lawrence LLC, along East 900 Road in the Clinton Cove area.

In other business:

¢ Commissioners will discuss an increase to the county auditor’s salary.

¢ County Engineer Keith Browning and Commissioner Bob Johnson will talk about a proposed frontage road on the east side of Douglas County Road 1057 just north of Douglas County Road 458.

The meeting starts at 8:30 a.m. at the courthouse, 1100 Mass.
