¢ A Missouri man was ticketed for animal cruelty after Lawrence police said he left a dog unattended in his car Saturday near Seventh and New Hampshire streets.
A Lawrence municipal ordinance makes it illegal to leave an animal alone in a car for more than five minutes when the temperature is hotter than 80 degrees, police said. The temperature reached 90 degrees Saturday.
Police said they see an increase in animal cruelty calls when the weather gets hotter.
