Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police officers arrested a 21-year-old Kansas City, Kan., man suspected of threatening a table of people with a gun early Sunday at the International House of Pancakes, 3102 Iowa.

Sgt. Richard Nickell said the man is suspected of walking into the restaurant with a handgun at 4:50 a.m. and pointing it in the direction of four people while making a threatening remark. One person left the restaurant with the suspect.

Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and Douglas County sheriff's officers helped police locate and arrest the suspect without incident at the East Lawrence exit of the Kansas Turnpike, Nickell said.

No one was injured. On Sunday night, the man remained in the Douglas County Jail on charges of aggravated assault, making a criminal threat, intimidating a witness or victim, and criminal damage to property of less than $500.

Injury accident

¢ A 23-year-old Ottawa woman was taken Sunday evening to Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa after her 2006 Pontiac rear-ended a 2003 Chevrolet truck that was stopped and attempting to turn from the southbound lane of U.S. Highway 59 into a private drive.

The injured woman, Janelle Lickteig, was wearing her seat belt, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. No one in the other vehicle suffered any injuries. The wreck happened 5:45 p.m. just south of Sand Creek Road.

Part of Ottowa, not all of it. There are still several roads that are open. I did see some pictures on the news. There are several one-story houses that were flooded up to the start of the roof. Most likely total, or near total losses.
