KU vs. Texas Tech basketball notebook

Kansas University’s players, who traveled to Lubbock a day early because of the ominous prediction of double-digit inches of snow, had a practice and shootaround Friday. As of the 7 p.m. shootaround, there was still no measurable snow on the ground.

“It’s supposed to hit, but it’s not coming down yet,” KU coach Bill Self said before heading to the shootaround.

The players had the option of attending a movie or walking around the mall late Friday afternoon before the shootaround.

¢
Thomas back at KU: Former Kansas University basketball player Billy Thomas has returned to Lawrence from Serbia, where he was playing professional basketball. Thomas, who played for the Washington Wizards last year, has decided to enroll in school and finish coursework toward his degree. Self said there is the possibility Thomas will help out in the basketball office as he fulfills his graduation requirements.

¢
Ten in a row: The Jayhawks take a 10-game win streak into today’s game.

“I think we feel more consistent,” KU’s Brandon Rush said. “Sometimes the games just don’t go our way, so we just play our principles on defense and attack the key man.”

“We won 10 in a row, but we still have ups and downs,” Russell Robinson noted. “We had a great game against Oklahoma State, then go into overtime against Iowa State. So it’s kind of up and down and we’re still just trying to figure it out and take it game by game, and when it counts, hopefully we can win.”

¢ Since the 2001-2002 season, Texas Tech is 76-14 (.844) in the United Spirit Arena. Last season, Texas Tech was 12-4. The Red Raiders are 8-1 at home this season.
