Trial has been postponed in a case that will decide whether a local business is an adult-themed sex shop or a run-of-the-mill retailer.

Trial for Richard Osburn, owner of Naughty But Nice, 1741 Mass., had been scheduled to start Thursday in Municipal Court, but it was postponed to give Osburn time to hire an attorney.

The trial has been rescheduled for March 15.

Osburn is charged with operating a sex shop without a proper license and in an illegal location, but the store remains open.

Osburn has begun selling office supplies in an effort to show that he’s like any retailer and shouldn’t be shut down.

He said he believes the city is trying to put him out of business, not just relocate him.
