Kansas Day book signing party announced
Virgil W. Dean, editor of “John Brown to Bob Dole: Movers and Shakers in Kansas History,” will appear at a Kansas Day book signing party Jan. 29 at Oread Books in the Kansas Union at Kansas University
Dean will be joined by several KU faculty contributors for the book. The event, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., is free and open to the public.
“John Brown to Bob Dole,” published by the University Press of Kansas in 2006, is a collection of biographical essays on 27 notable men and women, covering 150 years of Kansas and American history. These include agitators such as abolitionist John Brown, motivators like women’s rights activist Clarina I. H. Nichols, innovators such as sustainable agriculture advocate Wes Jackson, artists such as the multitalented Gordon Parks, and favorite sons Dwight D. Eisenhower and Bob Dole.
