Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ 700 block of Elm Street: Someone broke the lock on the front door of a home and stole $2,000 worth of property, including an $800 Cannondale bicycle and $400 stereo receiver, between 8:30 p.m. Dec. 31 and 3 a.m. Jan. 1, according to a police report released Thursday.

¢ 3400 block of Iowa: A De Soto woman reported a $1,800 laptop computer stolen from her vehicle between 7:15 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Jan. 5.

¢ 1100 block of Haskell Avenue: Two generators, worth $1,399 total, were stolen between Dec. 25 and Tuesday from the 12th and Haskell Bargain Center, according to a police report.

Injury accidents

¢ A 21-year-old woman was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries after she was the driver and only person involved in a one-vehicle accident Thursday evening near De Soto, said Lt. Robert Bieniecki, of the Johnson County Sheriff’s office.

Officers believe alcohol was involved in the accident that happened at 8:30 p.m. in the 31200 block of W. 83rd Street east of De Soto, Bieniecki said. Officers were still investigating Thursday night.
