KU Hospital receives Magnet status

Kansas University Hospital has received Magnet status from the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center, a branch of the American Nurses Association.

The Magnet Recognition Program recognizes health care organizations that provide the best in nursing care.

KU Hospital is the teaching hospital for KU Medical Center. The hospital is in talks with KU Medical Center over a new affiliation agreement. KU Hospital has proposed paying KUMC $400 million over 10 years if the hospital remains the primary teaching hospital for KU and will be the lead clinical facility for National Cancer Institute designation.

Other hospitals honored this month were The Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.; Pinnacle Health System in Harrisburg, Pa.; Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua, N.H.; Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va.; and Children’s Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
