KU vs. South Carolina basketball notebook

¢ South Carolina, enrollment 27,065, is located in Columbia, S.C. Nickname is Gamecocks. Colors are Garnet and Black. Conference is Southeastern.

¢ South Carolina has a three-game winning streak against top-10 teams. Last year, USC beat Florida when the Gators were ranked fifth and sixth. In 2005, USC beat Kentucky when the Wildcats were No. 3.

¢ The highest-ranked team USC has defeated is No. 2 North Carolina, 68-66, on Feb. 14, 1969, in Charlotte. USC was ranked No. 19 at the time.

¢ The Gamecocks beat Southern Cal, 80-74, in overtime in Los Angeles. KU beat USC, 72-62, on Dec. 4 in Allen Fieldhouse.

¢ Including the regular-season finale last season at Auburn, South Carolina has won 19 of its last 22 games.
