Law enforcement report

¢ According to Douglas County Jail records, 12 people were booked into jail on charges related to driving under the influence between New Year’s Eve Sunday night and noon Monday. Lawrence police officers made eight arrests, Kansas Highway Patrol troopers made three and Eudora police made one.

¢ A 41-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Sunday evening on suspicion of stabbing another Lawrence man during an altercation in the 2200 block of Harper Street.

Lawrence police spokeswoman Sgt. Susan Hadl said the men were apparent acquaintances and visiting until a disturbance broke out between them for an unknown reason. It became physical when the 41-year-old man allegedly wielded a pocket knife and stabbed the other man once. The suspect then ran away, but officers quickly found him and took him in for questioning.

He was arrested without incident on charges of aggravated battery and possession of marijuana with intent to sell, according to Douglas County Jail records. The man remained in jail Monday night in lieu of $3,000 bond.

Hadl said the man who was stabbed refused medical treatment but was later admitted to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for observation.

¢ An 18-year-old De Soto man was arrested Monday morning by a Johnson County Sheriff’s officer on a charge of aggravated battery. Sheriff spokesman Master Deputy Tom Erickson said a report on the arrest was not available Monday afternoon. The man remained in the Johnson County Jail on Monday night.

Injury accident

¢ A Kansas City, Kan., man and an Overland Park woman suffered injuries after a motorcycle accident Monday afternoon on U.S. Highway 24-40 south of Tonganoxie.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, a kickstand dragged onto the pavement on the eastbound motorcycle just north of Hemphill Road in Leavenworth County, which caused driver, Larry Joe Ferrell, 52, to lose control. The motorcycle ran off the road and Ferrell, who was not wearing a helmet, and Bobbi Ladd, 46, who wore one, were thrown off the vehicle.

Ladd was taken to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., and Ferrell was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
