Law enforcement report

¢ A 19-year-old Kansas City, Mo., man was arrested early Sunday on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon near a bar. The man was released from the Douglas County Jail on Sunday morning on bond and will appear later in Municipal Court, according to jail records. Additional information from police was not available Sunday.

¢ Lawrence police officers were investigating the death of a 19-year-old man Sunday afternoon in an apartment at Colony Woods Apartments, 1301 W. 24th St.

Sgt. Craig Shanks said police were called to the apartment about 2 p.m. after a report of an unresponsive person. Other people were inside the apartment at the time, he said. But no medical personnel were there, so it was treated as an unattended death, Shanks said.

He also said police would not release any further details until investigators completed their work to determine the nature of the death.

Hmm. I wonder which bar?

note the first marriage license; a mail-order bride? hope she'll be all right.

oh, Scott^ tsk tsk, that bar was probably those country music lovin' rednecks' bars...never think it would refer to the gentlemen who frequent the "last call." those fine fellows wouldn't ever consider breaking the law, or the "Queen's english."

or- she could be the new wife of a soldier stationed there.

mail order brides are hard to really get anymore per immigration law you actually have to meet them first now.

Hey, they might have met on the romantic internet. Love at first click.

I do know a man, who could be charitably called "human sludge," who was working on bringing a mail-order bride from the philippines. after several months of interacting in e-mails, they had not met in person and supposedly her first trip here was to marry this schlub. that was several months ago, and don't know if has happened or fallen through...praying for the latter for her sake!

yes, the romantic internet does exist and sometimes is actually very nice for pairing up people.
