Law enforcement report

¢ The district attorney’s office is reviewing a case of possible endangerment of a child after police found two children left in a car last week.

According to Lawrence police, a woman shopping in Checkers, 2300 La., saw two children alone in a car when she entered the store. The children were still there when she left the store about 15 minutes later.

Police interviewed the woman and took a report, then located the 41-year-old mother of the children at her home. Police noted at the time that the children appeared to be in good health.

The report was sent to the district attorney’s office and the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services for review.

¢ Police responded to reports early Sunday of a dog left outside in the cold without access to food or shelter.

The animal control officer found the dog in the 3300 block of West Eighth Street and located a neighbor, who let the dog inside.

Police left a business card for the owner of the dog to make contact.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ 1200 block of Schwarz Road, between 2:45 a.m. and 3:05 a.m. Saturday: Police are investigating reports that someone broke into the garage of a 39-year-old Lawrence woman and entered her car. Nothing was reported stolen.

¢ 1100 block of Louisiana Street, between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday: A 21-year-old Lawrence woman reported someone broke into her home and stole her wallet. An employee of a taxi service contacted her after he found her wallet in the road.
