KU to be represented at science open house

Kansas University will be represented at the National Science Foundation’s open house and budget overview today in Arlington, Va.

The Center for Remote Sensing of Ice Sheets, headquartered at KU, will be one of 16 exhibitors at the open house, which is held at budget-request time to inform the public and government leaders about the importance of the science foundation’s efforts.

Researchers at the CReSIS are working to develop technologies to understand and predict the role of polar ice sheets in climate and sea-level change.

The center’s display in Arlington will include a model of the Meridian Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle, which is used to gather data in harsh polar climates.

Sivaprasad Gogineni, the center’s director, and Stephen Ingalls, associate director for administration, will attend the open house along with two students from partner institutions.
