Kansas University’s student-run radio station has been nominated for a nationwide award in the category of “best college/non-commercial radio station.”

KJHK 90.7 FM is in the running for a PLUG Independent Music Award. The awards recognize independent music that’s often overlooked by the mainstream music industry.

The awards ceremony will be Saturday at Irving Plaza in New York City.

KJHK began broadcasting in October 1975.
