The Lawrence High wrestling team was ninth after the first day of the 21-team Rose Hill Invitational wrestling tournament with a team score of 63 points.

LHS’ Brandon Goodwin will compete in the finals of the 103-pound division today, the second and final day of comeptition, and teammate Zach Hertzel qualified for today’s consolation semifinals.

“It’s the same format as state,” LHS coach Mark Dulgarian said of the tournament that will take place Feb. 23-24 in Valley Center. “So this is a good chance for our kids to get used to the format.”

Host Rose Hill leads the tournament with 117.5 points.
