Injury accidents

¢ Two people were transported with non-life threatening injuries to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Saturday following an accident on U.S. Highway 40. Chrystal Hunter, 29, of Iola was driving a 2004 Honda Odyssey west on U.S. 40 near East 400 Road when she lost control on the ice and hit the culvert, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Hunter and passenger Ted Faucher, 45, of Lawrence, were transported to the hospital. The accident occurred about 10:20 a.m. Saturday. Both were treated at the hospital and released.

¢ A 55-year-old Lawrence woman was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with minor injuries Monday morning following a single-vehicle accident on the Kansas Turnpike. According to a Kansas Turnpike Authority report, Patricia L. Moffet was driving a 2002 Saab convertible near milepost 201.9 when she lost control of the vehicle, struck a delineator post and overturned in the ditch. The accident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. Moffet was treated and released.

¢ A 25-year-old Oskaloosa man was involved in an injury accident about 6:40 p.m. Monday. A 1999 Chevrolet driven by Carl A. Forrester, 34, Leavenworth was exiting I-70 and merging northbound onto K-7 when it stopped for traffic, according to a Kansas Turnpike Authority report. The vehicle was struck from behind by James D. Smith, 25, of Oskaloosa, who was driving a 2007 Kia. Carolyn Forrester, 43, a passenger in the Chevrolet, was transported to an area hospital with incapacitating injuries, the report said.
