KU professors earn Fulbright awards

Kansas University professors Gregory Cushman, Erik Herron and Mahasweta Banerjee were given Fulbright Senior Scholar Awards for the 2007-08 school year, KU announced Monday.

Cushman, an assistant professor of history, will teach during the fall at University of Pannonia in Hungary. Herron, director of the center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies at KU, will spend this fall at Ivan Franko National University in L’viv, where he will teach while observing and researching the Ukrainian elections. Banerjee, associate professor of social welfare, will research the ability of residents of West Bengal to earn a living.

More than 280 KU educators have received Fulbrights since 1951.
