Kansas University football standout Aqib Talib was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year Award watch list this week.
Talib, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior cornerback, is one of just nine defensive players on the 35-man list. Two other Big 12 Conference players made the cut: Texas quarterback Colt McCoy and receiver Limas Sweed.
Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith won the award last year. The list will be narrowed to 10 semifinalists in November, and the winner will be announced in December.
