Law enforcement report

Burglaries And thefts reported

¢ A 51-year-old Lawrence man reported to Lawrence police that his red Subaru was damaged between noon Thursday and 4 p.m. Monday in the 2100 block of Louisiana Street. The damage is estimated at $1,000.

¢ A 16-year-old Lawrence girl reported to Lawrence police that the hood and windshield of her 1997 Chrysler LHS was damaged between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Inverness Drive. The damage is estimated at $3,000.

¢ Lawrence police assisted the Topeka Police Department in recovering a $10,000 1999 Pontiac Grand AM about 2 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Home Depot, 1910 W. 31st St.

(pssssttt......Your insurance company doesn't just give you however much you claim it was worth.)

It's always entertaining to read the car damage reports and see how inflated people's opinions of their cars are. I've seen the 15 year old 2x2 pickup valued at $15,000...and the 9 year old Grand Am, above, valued at $10,000 (the 2009 models are out now). I swear, people really believe their insurance company will just give them whatever they claim it's worth.
