Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police responded to a report of a possible bomb threat Monday at Holiday Inn Express, 3411 Iowa. The report was made shortly after 10 a.m. The business reported opening four e-mails on Monday. The e-mails, dated Saturday, alleged there was a bomb on the property. Police searched the facility and found no evidence of an explosive device or substance.

¢ Lawrence police were called at 8:15 p.m. Sunday to a possible domestic disturbance at a residence in the 500 block of West Sixth Street. Officers arrived to find three people, two men and a woman. The male victim, a friend of the male suspect, had been visiting the suspect when a verbal altercation began. A female at the residence called police. Before police arrived, the suspect reportedly grabbed a hammer and approached the victim. The victim told police he believed the suspect might have struck him if an officer hadn’t arrived. The suspect was booked on aggravated assault.

Injury accidents

¢ The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality automobile accident that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday. Police believe 47-year-old Gordon Gault, of Spring Hill, was driving in the area of 166th Street and Lenape Road when he lost control of his vehicle due to medical reasons and drove off the road. Gault died at the scene. The vehicle was not damaged. An investigation into the cause of death is pending, and the incident is under investigation.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A 19-year-old South Lake, Texas, man reported to police the theft of his 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt, valued at $15,000. He reported the incident occurred between 2:30 a.m. Friday and 12 p.m. Saturday at 10th and Alabama streets.

¢ Lawrence police are investigating reports of criminal damage and theft at a residence on Freedom Creek Drive. A 22-year-old Lawrence resident reported the theft of a laptop computer and ink cartridge with a combined value of $1,550. The incident reportedly occurred between 10:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. Saturday.
