Police arrest suspect after highway chase

A police chase Tuesday led to the arrest of a Lawrence man wanted on warrants and questioning in the case of a stolen uni-loader.

At 11:26 a.m. a Lawrence police officer saw the 27-year-old suspect driving in the area of the Airport Motel north of Lawrence, according to a report. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, then pursued it north on U.S. Highway 24/59. The chase ended in a private driveway.

During the chase the suspect drove into a field and something was thrown out of the vehicle, the report said.

The suspect was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license and other traffic charges. He had two outstanding Douglas County warrants but no information about those warrants was available Tuesday evening.

An investigation into the stolen uni-loader, a small tractor, is ongoing, police said.
