To the editor:

Tuesday’s Journal-World quotes new Commissioner Mike Dever saying the proposed shopping district at Sixth and the South Lawrence Trafficway, “looks like it would be a good gateway to our community.”

It took me a minute, then I remembered the last time I heard this “gateway” support theme was by energetic backers of the Tanger Mall. You know, the mall at the Lawrence East Turnpike entrance.
