A Spring Hill woman was killed and Wellsville man was taken to the hospital after a collision shortly after noon Tuesday at Shawnee Road and Vermont Terrace near Wellsville.

Matthew J. Rogers, 22, was driving a 2000 Ford F250 pickup truck east on Shawnee Road when a northbound 1998 Nissan Pathfinder on Vermont Terrace, driven by Sophronia E. Anderson, 31, failed to yield at the intersection.

Rogers’ truck struck Anderson’s vehicle on the driver’s side before coming to a rest in a ditch; Anderson’s SUV came to rest in the eastbound lane of Shawnee, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

Anderson was ejected from the car and died.

Rogers was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
