IOLA A Florida man accused of killing a Kansas woman faces two new criminal charges.
Rory Markel Foster, 25, already faced charges of first-degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated battery and criminal threats in the April 26 death of Briawna Rae Hardrick, 19, of Iola.
Last week, prosecutors also charged him with rape and aggravated criminal sodomy.
Hardrick's body was found on a burned mattress by Iola police who had been called to her duplex. An 18-year-old woman escaped the blaze.
Foster, who is jailed on $1 million bond, was arrested the same day of the killing. He was caught at a car rental business at Kansas City International Airport.
Foster had gone to Iola to return the son he had with Hardrick from a visit in Florida, Iola Police Chief Walt Kuykendall said. The boy was with relatives at the time of Hardrick's death.
