Sheriff’s office to get 16 bulletproof vests
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has received a federal grant to buy 16 bulletproof vests.
The $4,338 grant was announced Monday by U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts’ office. In all, Kansas police agencies received $238,000 this year in tax dollars for bulletproof vests through the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Program administered by the U.S. Department of Justice.
“This money is crucial, especially for smaller communities in Kansas that do not have the means to purchase vests on their own,” Roberts said in a statement.
