KU computer guru to discuss networks

The past, present and future of computers and computer networks will be up for review during the October luncheon of the Lawrence Technology Assn., set for 11:45 a.m. Thursday at Pachamama’s in downtown Lawrence.

Dave Nordlund, semiretired associate director of networking and telecommunication services at Kansas University, will draw upon his 47 years of experience working on computers and networks for his presentation, “Opening the Archives: Computers and Networking.”

“Somebody will ask: What’s going to happen next?” said Nordlund, who helped put together KU’s first data network, back in 1970. “I have some interesting visions of the future. One of my visions is a computer that you wear, one that’s built in to your clothes. We’re pretty close to that now.”

Cost is $12 for association members and $15 for guests.
