How they scored

FIRST QUARTER

4:19 – Marcus Herford 33 pass from Kerry Meier. A fumble recovery by Anthony Webb set Kansas up to strike first. After a Jon Cornish run for a loss, Meier saw Herford running in a seam up the middle and threw a strike to him. Herford caught it in his fingertips for the score. Scott Webb kick. (Kansas 7, Oklahoma State 0).

SECOND QUARTER

14:09 – Derek Fine 4 pass from Meier. Another fumble recovery sparked a scoring drive with a short field. Meier had a hand in every play, completing three passes for 24 yards and running for 14 more. The last was a quick pass to Fine just past the goal line. Webb kick. (Kansas 14, Oklahoma State 0).

THIRD QUARTER

10:46 – Webb 43 field goal. Another Oklahoma State turnover led to points. Bobby Reid fumbled a quarterback sneak, and Kansas answered, going 32 yards on five plays, the biggest a 14-yard reverse by Brian Murph and a 14-yard run by Meier. Webb’s field goal was his longest of the season. (Kansas 17, Oklahoma State 0).

8:19 – Adarius Bowman 54 pass from Reid. Oklahoma State benefited from a solid Parrish Cox kickoff return and two pass completions – the first for 15 yards to Anthony Parks, and the second a 54-yard completion to Bowman, 35 of which came after the catch. Jason Ricks kick (Kansas 17, Oklahoma State 7).

7:17 Reid 29 run. Oklahoma State got the ball right back when it stunned Kansas with a successful onside kick. After two pass completions, Reid ran the option right, slipped into the KU backfield, streaked down the right sideline and bowled through KU defenders the last five yards into the end zone – 1:02 after the Cowboys first reached it. Ricks kick. (Kansas 17, Oklahoma State 14).

4:38 – Bowman 25 pass from Reid. The OSU machine continued its impressive third-quarter spurt. After forcing Kansas to three-and-out, Oklahoma State moved 56 yards on four plays, including a 25-yard run by Dantrell Savage and a 25-yard pass to OSU’s Mr. Reliable, Bowman, who was being covered by KU linebacker Joe Mortensen. Ricks kick. (Oklahoma State 21, Kansas 17).

FOURTH QUARTER

13:38 – Bowman 55 pass from Reid. Have another one, Cowboys: The third play of the fourth quarter was a pump fake that left Bowman wide open between the hash marks. He caught it on the run, kicked right and wasn’t touched for his third score of the game. Ricks kick. (Oklahoma State 28, Kansas 17).

7:46 – Brandon McAnderson 11 run. KU freshman Jake Sharp provided an immediate spark, gaining 27 on a run and 15 on a shovel pass. McAnderson finished the drive, though, bullying up the middle and into the end zone. Meier rolled out right and found Fine on the left side for the two-point conversion. (Oklahoma State 28, Kansas 25).

7:08 – Bowman 64 pass from Reid. Oklahoma State needed just one play to answer KU’s touchdown, and guess who got it? Bowman caught a pass over the middle and slipped behind a wall up the right sideline, going untouched for his fourth touchdown. He hit 300 yards receiving for the game with the catch. Ricks kick. (Oklahoma State 35, Kansas 25).

2:27 – D’Juan Woods 25 pass from Bobby Reid. So they do have other receivers. An eight-play, 58-yard drive paid off when Reid threw a fade pass into the left corner of the end zone that Woods came up with. Ricks kick. (Oklahoma State 42, Kansas 25).

1:22 – Dexton Fields 8 pass from Meier. Kansas answered with a 62-yard drive on five plays, which included two catches by Fine. Fields’ catch in the front of the end zone near the left sideline finished the scoring. Webb kick. (Oklahoma State 42, Kansas 32).
