Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence Police arrested a 27-year-old Lawrence man late Wednesday for sex crimes involving a 15-year-old female acquaintance. He’s accused of having sexual contact with the girl twice earlier this month at his home in southwest Lawrence.

¢ An Ottawa man, Jerry L. Lester, 53, has been charged in U.S. District Court with two counts of making false statements to a licensed firearms dealer to purchase firearms and three counts of unlawfully possessing a firearm while he was a user of controlled substances. U.S. Atty. Eric Melgren alleges the crimes happened between July 2005 and May 2006.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ Two computers and a monitor, valued at $2,055 total, were stolen from Lawrence High School, 1901 La., between 12:35 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. on Oct. 5.

Injury accidents

¢ A 17-year-old boy went to the hospital for treatment early Wednesday after being hit by a Chevrolet Blazer while crossing Lyon Street in North Lawrence. The driver of the Blazer, Tammy L. Kerr, 43, Lawrence, was going west on Lyon Street when she struck Patrick Brown, who had run into the street. A Lawrence Memorial Hospital nursing supervisor said Brown was treated and released.
