Violent crimes reported during weekend

Three violent crimes were reported during the weekend within a three-block area near Kansas University campus:

¢ A 21-year-old Lawrence man told police two men forced their way into his home armed with a handgun and a shotgun and robbed him about 11:15 p.m. Saturday in the 1300 block of Tennessee Street. The man told officers the men stole items including a monitor, a Motorola cell phone and his wallet. Those suspects remained at large Monday.

¢ About 12:15 a.m. Sunday, an 18-year-old Lawrence High School student reported he was beaten in a robbery in the 1200 block of Louisiana Street.

The man told police he was walking through the area when he was beaten and robbed of his wallet and cash by four unidentified males. He was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment. As of Monday, the suspects remained at large.

¢ Police responded about 10:30 p.m. Sunday to a report that five to 10 people broke into a home in the 1200 block of Tennessee Street, and that at least three people were injured, possibly after being struck with a baseball bat. A written report from that incident was not available Monday.
