Law enforcement report

¢ A 19-year-old woman living in the 4000 block of Overland Drive was booked into jail at 10:54 p.m. Thursday night for aggravated assault. According to a report, a 49-year-old family member told police he threatened her with a knife or sharp object around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. According to jail records, the woman was released Friday afternoon because the district attorney’s office declined to file charges at the time.

¢ A 52-year-old Lawrence man is suspected of inappropriately touching a now-16-year-old female acquaintance. The incidents happened sometime between January 2002 and January 2004, police said.

¢ Hobby Lobby, in the 1800 block of West 23rd Street, has been the site of repeated vandalism in recent weeks. The store has filed three separate reports alleging spray paint damage to a storage container, spray paint on an exterior wall, and damage to padlocks at the store. The incidents began in early September, according to reports. The suspect or suspects have not been identified.

¢ Leavenworth County Sheriff’s officers and Leavenworth and Lansing police officers served a search warrant Thursday evening in the 200 block of Fairlane Street in Lansing and recovered about 48 grams of suspected crack cocaine and some cash, according to a sheriff’s report.

Officers arrested a 23-year-old Lansing man and a 23-year-old Lansing woman both on unrelated outstanding warrants. A 22-year-old man at the home was released, as were two children, who were taken to stay with friends.

The Leavenworth County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case for possible charges to be filed.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ 1600 section of North 1500 Road: $2,145 worth of tools and construction equipment were stolen between Sept. 28 and Sept. 29 from a home under construction.

¢ An employee of Jayhawk Food Mart, 701 W. 9th St., reported that an unknown person damaged an office door and stole $9,000 cash and $2,000 worth of cigarettes between 2 p.m. Monday and 2 p.m. Tuesday.

¢ 2100 block of Kasold Drive: An unknown person broke a window Monday evening at the Maharishi Enlightenment Center, 2121 Kasold Dr., in a burglary. It caused $500 damage, but nothing was stolen.

¢ 1500 block of Massachusetts St.: A 68-year-old woman says her 1997 Mitsubishi worth $2,000 was stolen Sept. 18. She didn’t report it to police until Thursday.

¢ Police are investigating a report that a 37-year-old Perry man took irreplaceable motorcycle parts, valued at $20,900, sometime between noon Sept. 28 and 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30 from a storage area in the 500 block of Elm Street. The owner of the parts, a 62-year-old Lawrence man, made the report to police. The owner knows the suspect, according to a police report.

Emergency calls

¢ A construction crew on New Hampshire Street inadvertently cut a natural gas line Friday morning causing a strong odor downtown and a brief evacuation of some offices.

Fire and medical personnel and utility crews arrived to repair the leak.

¢ Smoke detector activation, malfunction, 4:01 p.m. Thursday, 1122 West Campus Road.
