KU senior was finalist for Rhodes scholarship

A Kansas University senior was not offered one of the two Rhodes scholarships for students in the region after interviews this weekend in Kansas City, Mo.

Anne Isabel McEnroe, a 2003 Free State High School graduate, was named a regional finalist for the prestigious scholarship for study at Oxford University in England.

KU competes in a region that includes students from Kansas, Arkansas, Mississippi and Missouri.

The Rhodes Foundation selects 32 scholars each year – two each from 16 regions.

KU students have won 25 Rhodes scholarships since 1904.

McEnroe is the daughter or Bruce McEnroe and Michelle Tamburini.

She is a National Merit Scholar and is preparing for a career teaching classics at the university level.
