KU Flute Choir to perform Monday

The KU Flute Choir has announced a performance at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Swarthout Recital Hall.

This winter concert will feature original contemporary flute choir music, including award-winning works by Christopher Caliendo and Ian Clarke. The students also will break into a quartet to perform Lawrence Dillon’s “Dunigan Variations,” a virtuosic display. David Fedele, KU assistant professor of flute, and his graduate teaching assistant, Matthew Allison, will perform Christopher Krampe’s haunting “Dark Wings” for alto flute and bass flute, written for the duo. Additionally, in celebration of Steve Reich’s 70th birthday, the KU Flute Choir will perform Reich’s minimalistic “Vermont Counterpoint.”
