Fire engulfed an apparently vacant trailer Wednesday night at an East Lawrence trailer home park.

Shortly before 10 p.m., witnesses reported to emergency dispatchers that trailer E-128 at 1908 E. 19th St. was fully engulfed in flames. But neighbors at the scene said no one had lived there for the past year, and utility representative said there was no gas service to the trailer.

“I go look out my window, and I see a big ball of fire,” said neighbor Mike Brummer, 24, one of the people who reported the fire.

As of 10:15 p.m., the flames had died down, but firefighters continued to spray the trailer and cut at its sides.
