KU announces exhibit by former athlete

Kansas University’s Academic Program for Excellence will showcase works by Sean Alvarado, a former KU basketball player.

Alvarado’s exhibit, “Everyday Faces, Everyday Places,” will kick off at 9 a.m. Thursday with a reception at the SES Tutoring Center in Strong Hall. It will run through Dec. 5.

Alvarado earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from KU in 1990. He earned a master’s degree in school counseling from Wilmington College in Georgetown, Del. He’s returning to KU to work for the APEX Gear Up program as an adviser to middle school students.

He played on the 1988 NCAA championship team.

The free event is open to the public.
