Law enforcement report

¢ Two Lawrence residents – a 20-year-old Lawrence man living at Gaslight Village, 1900 W. 31st St., and a 45-year-old man living in the 200 block of North Fourth Street – were booked into jail on Tuesday on warrants alleging they violated the Kansas Registered Offender Act. Both were released on bond and ordered to appear in court later this month.

¢ The five Kansas University students booked into the Shawnee County Jail on Monday were arrested for burglary after police responded to an alarm at the former Topeka State Hospital, heard crashing noises inside and saw the men emerge from the building, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Injury accidents

¢ A bee inside a car led to a head-on wreck Monday on Haskell Avenue, according to a police report. Halvor C. Pederson, 67, Muscotah, was driving a 2000 Buick Century north on Haskell Avenue about 3:15 p.m. near 20th Street when he swerved into the oncoming lane and struck another vehicle because he was distracted by a bee, a police report says. He was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital and later to Kansas University Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. A hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday she could not release any information about Pederson’s condition.
