Law enforcement report
Two people went to the hospital Monday evening after a three-vehicle rear-end wreck in Tonganoxie. The wreck happened about 5:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 24-40 near Eighth Street when a westbound 1997 Mercury Tracer crested a hill and rear-ended a 1998 Pontiac Grand Am that was stopped in traffic behind a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix whose driver was trying to turn east.
The driver of the Mercury Tracer, Ashli Koch, 16, Tonganoxie, and the driver of the Pontiac Grand Am, Erin Lemke, 25, Lawrence, were taken to University of Kansas Hospital with injuries but had been released by Tuesday. Both were wearing seat belts, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The third driver, Karen Stephenson, 51, Tonganoxie, had possible injuries but was not transported.
