Law enforcement report

¢ Police arrested a 20-year-old Lawrence man early Saturday morning on suspicion of striking people with a stick in a brawl involving at least seven people in the 1700 block of Harper Street. Witnesses told police the fight started after a group of people were having a gathering at the home and three uninvited men including the 20-year-old showed up. The men refused to leave and said they “owned the block,” according to a police report.

Two other Lawrence men, ages 18 and 20, were arrested for battery.

¢ An Arizona woman reported to police last week she was raped by an acquaintance in 2000 while she lived in Lawrence. She said she hadn’t reported the crime until now because she was afraid of the suspect.

She identified him to police as a 35-year-old man whose last known address was in Lawrence. Police are investigating.

¢ Someone threw an egg last week at the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical Station 5, 1911 Stewart Ave., causing $1,500 in damage to a steel bell. Chief Mark Bradford said there is a suspect.

¢ At least 10 people, several of whom are still unidentified, were involved in a brawl involving a financial debt early Friday morning at Broken Arrow Park, 2800 La. A 21-year-old Eudora man was arrested.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ An unknown suspect cut a metal hasp and stole items valued at $1,400 total from a storage area at 811 E. 23rd St. It happened between May 13 and May 14.

¢ A Lawrence man told police someone got into his truck and used it to open his garage door in the 3600 block of Hartford Court. They made off with more than $5,000 worth of equipment, including racing radios, tools, and lawn equipment. The theft happened between 11 p.m. May 12 and 8 a.m. May 13.

¢ A double-headed parking meter worth $800 was stolen between 4 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the 100 block of East 10th St.

¢ Someone stole a change machine valued at $3,000 from Bungalow Laundry, 1900 Barker Ave., according to a report. It disappeared between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. Friday.
