Injury accident

¢ An 18-year-old girl suffered a head injury Saturday morning after a two-car accident on Interstate 70 near the West Lawrence exit.

Driver Matthew D. Smith, 22, of Leavenworth, at 8:30 a.m. drove to the east and swerved his 1996 Nissan into the right lane and struck the rear bumper of a 1996 Oldsmobile SV, driven by Jerry W. Haag, 71, of Topeka, according to a report from the Kansas Turnpike Authority.

Smith’s car then swerved back to the left and struck the barrier. Smith and Haag were not injured, but Holly Kessler, a passenger in Smith’s car, did not wear a seat belt. She was transported to Lawrence Memorial Hospital with a possible concussion.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ Last week two Kansas University students reported losing money after they left their ATM cards in separate machines. One student reported that $400 was withdrawn Tuesday morning after the card was left in a machine at the Burge Union. Another student reported $40 missing after a card was left in a machine at 1301 Jayhawk Blvd.
