Warner signs CFL contract

Ron Warner, a former Kansas University pass-rushing standout, has signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League.

This is Warner’s second stint with the Blue Bombers. The 6-foot-3, 275-pounder played in nine games for Winnipeg during the 2000 season.

Warner last played professionally in 2004 with the NFL’s Washington Redskins. He was released prior to the 2005 season. He has also played for the Tampa Bay Bucs.

The Independence native was a seventh-round draft choice of the New Orleans Saints in 1998. He is KU’s season (14.5) and career (20.5) sack leader.
